Discovered by Thomas Squire of Berkhamsted in the 1840s, and named by him after Prince Albert, it was subsequently taken on by local nurseryman John Lane and rapidly became a very popular apple variety and remains so in the UK to this day. In fruit from October through to Christmas, Lane’s Prince Albert provides a sensational crisp and sharp taste. Mix with champagne for an exceptional and stylish apple bellini.
